About Durnell Maier Law
Elizabeth Durnell-Maier was an excellent attorney for our family. She understood our needs and gave us options so we could decide on what was best for us. She was clear and patient. She answered all of our questions and guided us in the correct direction. I have more peace of mind about our assets now than before. Very personal and attentive.

Turning Worst-Case Scenarios into Best-Case Scenarios
Durnell Maier Law, LLC is a caring and knowledgeable elder law practice that is dedicated to assisting seniors and their families with the many legal challenges they face, including paying for the care they need and protecting their beneficiaries. The firm was founded by Elizabeth Durnell-Maier, who is a Certified Elder Law Attorney through the National Elder Law Foundation and Ohio Bar Association.
Over the past decade of working in elder law, Elizabeth has assisted hundreds of families qualifying for government benefits they didn’t realize were available to them, along with preserving a portion of their assets at the same time. She has also helped hundreds in setting up the proper documentation to ensure that their loved ones didn’t have the hassle, publicity, or expense of probate before opening Durnell Maier Law.
After seeing so many worst-case scenarios over the years of clients facing probate and losing their assets, Elizabeth has led countless seminars educating Ohioans on the importance of having a proper plan in place. She is passionate about teaching clients how to avoid all of them, creating the best-case scenarios for their future instead.
Elizabeth belongs to the Ohio NAELA chapter, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Shelby County Bar Association, the Sidney Kiwanis Club and sits on the New Choices Board of Directors, where she is currently the President. She is also a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport where she also lectors.
Outside of the office, Elizabeth can be found exploring local restaurants and at a game cheering on the Xavier Musketeers along with her hometown Houston Wildcats!
Natalie is originally from Pennsylvania, but quickly felt right at home in Ohio while attending law school at Ohio Northern University. She has always had a passion for helping others, and that prompted her to pursue a career in elder law and estate planning upon graduation. She also understands, on a personal level, the impact and difficulties of having a loved one enter a nursing home facility. Because of that, Natalie was thrilled to be able to work at a law firm that advocates for asset protection and avoiding probate. She enjoys learning about asset protection, probate avoidance, and the probate process to help best serve our clients.
Natalie is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Shelby County Bar Association, and she is looking forward to becoming more involved in the local community. In her free time outside of the office, she enjoys reading, playing tennis, and watching college basketball.
